Chart: Employment Participation of Working-age Adults in Maine by Disability Type
In general, employment participation is highest among adults with sensory disabilities and lowest among those with self-care, go-outside-the-home, and employment disabilities (see disability definitions from the ACS). More than half of all adults with sensory disabilities reported work in the 2007 ACS, versus fewer than one in six of those with self-care, go-outside-the-home, and employment disabilities. About one third of adults with physical and mental disabilities were employed.
